We all know someone who has influenced our lives for the positive, and this award recognises an organisation or individual who has inspired, motivated and encouraged people – specifically people from disadvantaged backgrounds, building their confidence and of course their life opportunities.
This particular project showed how University students can make a significant difference to help widen participation. The judges were impressed by the scale of this project- the number of people it supports, the use of evidence to develop the programme and the on-line resources they have created.
With over 90 medical student ambassadors, reaching 1,200 disadvantaged young people last year we were impressed with the sheer reach of this project. The project also has a website and lesson plans for their sessions and activities – which have been put together in over 2,000 voluntary hours.
The award goes to the team who have set up ‘EdMed’, – based at the University of Liverpool.
